

India witnessed an impressive voter turnout in Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha elections held yesterday across 13 states. Major leaders campaigned extensively as citizens turned out in large numbers despite the summer heat. The Election Commission praised the smooth and peaceful execution of the process.
India marked a strong democratic display yesterday as Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2025 concluded across 13 states and 88 constituencies. The voter turnout was reported to be over 68%, indicating a growing political engagement, especially among first-time voters and women.
“India’s democracy is strong because its people are active participants,” said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in a late evening press conference.
West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra saw some of the highest voter turnouts.
Over 1600 candidates were in the fray, including top leaders from all major parties.
No major violence or disruption was reported, with the EC praising state administrations and security forces.
What’s Next?
Phase 3 is scheduled for May 7, 2025, with campaigning already heating up.
The Election Commission has urged all eligible citizens to turn out in large numbers again to “strengthen the voice of democracy.”
